Iconic Flynns Beach is flanked by shady pine trees and Town Beach serves up the waves for surfers. It’s possible to escape the crowds at Oxley Beach, the tidal lagoon at Shelly Beach and secluded North Beach. If you’ve been looking for a sea change, this town is pretty hard to beat.
From art galleries to boutique fashion shops and big brands, Port Macquarie already offers all the shopping you need, with so much more to come. Schools, services, the beach and attractions are all within easy distance of each other. In fact, in just 15 to 20 minutes you’ll get to almost anywhere you need to, without city traffic jams. Better yet, walkability in Port Macquarie is exceptional, so you can leave the car in the garage on the weekends.

The general feel of Port Macquarie is relaxed, laidback and safe, with a palpable community spirit. It’s long been a favourite of retirees and now attracts families to its welcoming shores. At any given time of year, there’s no shortage of community events, including workshops, markets, exhibitions and events such as Festival of the Sun and Oysters in the Vines.
Charles Sturt University is expanding, inviting students, young families and investors to Port Macquarie. Retail options are increasing with Sovereign Hills Estate Town Centre under construction and the Port Macquarie Airport is about to receive a substantial facelift investing $100 million over four years from 2019-20 to 2022-23. It’s little wonder then, that the current population of 82,370 is projected to increase to about 104,000 by 2036, with job growth and infrastructure booming now and into the future.
